Before you trust your operation to a piece of software, ask who is behind it. Here is the answer.
A CMMS is not a subscription you swap in an afternoon. Once it is in production, your inventory, your work orders and your technicians' history live in it. It is reasonable to want to know which company stands behind it, who will answer when something goes wrong and what happens to your data in the worst case. All three answers are on this page, and none of them depends on taking our word for it.
Behind it is a geospatial engineering firm that has been putting systems into production since 2008.
Maptainer is developed, operated and invoiced by AVANTGEO, S.L., a company entered in the Valencia Companies Register (sheet V-130214), with tax ID (CIF) B98060502 and registered office at Calle Pio XII, 18, bajo, Quart de Poblet (Valencia, Spain).
Since 2008 AvantGeo has designed, developed and deployed geographic information systems built on open-source software, with more than 40 projects in production for organisations that manage territory, networks and assets. Maptainer is not the first product of a newly founded company. It is the work of a team that has spent almost twenty years solving the same problem for others: assets spread across a territory, technicians far from the office and an inventory that has to be on the map.
| Year | AvantGeo project | For |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 | Web GIS platform for land registry, irrigation network and remote meter reading | Acequia Real del Júcar |
| 2023 | Inspection tool for photovoltaic plants | Enertis Applus+ |
| 2022 | Electricity network GIS with offline lookup in the field, used daily by hundreds of technicians | Portugal's main electricity distributor |
| 2019 | Spatial data infrastructure on open-source software, with six synchronised servers | Global Omnium |
| 2018 | Data collection app for electrical substations | HC Energía, EDP group |
| 2014 | Spatial analysis tool for geomarketing | Gas Natural Fenosa |
A selection. The full list, with all 41 projects, is at avantgeo.com.
It was built by people who came from the map, not from the factory floor.
Most CMMS were born to maintain machines inside a building, and a map was put on top later. Maptainer was built the other way round, which is how AvantGeo has built systems from the start: first the real geometry in PostGIS, road routing and the base map, all inside the installation; then, on top, work orders, shifts, the warehouse and cost.
Nor is a field app that works a full day without coverage a launch promise. AvantGeo has been building field data collection apps since 2017, for electrical substations, wastewater treatment plants and sewer networks.
Your email is read by someone who can change the code.
There is no first-line support desk. When you write to info@maptainer.com or call +34 960 659 055, you deal with the team that develops the product, with AvantGeo behind it. These are the people you will meet.
| Person | Role | When you will talk to them |
|---|---|---|
| Carlos Lozano | CEO and project management | In the first conversation, on the contract and throughout the implementation: the plan, the milestones and the sign-off report all go through Carlos. |
| Juan Ramón Gavilanes | Senior GIS developer | When your mapping data is loaded, your asset types are adjusted or there is a question about geometries, layers or formats. |
| Marta Gómez | Software development | When something in the web or mobile application has to change to fit the way you operate. |
| David Sabalete | Systems | The OVHcloud infrastructure, backups, availability and platform security. |
Four habits you can check before you sign.
- Everything the system does is written down and published The complete functional documentation is public, and the API reference can be read without a key. If a sentence on this website does not match what the product does, you will see it before you sign.
- We say no If the product does not do what you need, we will tell you in the first session, not in the third month. We would rather lose a sale than start an implementation that is not going to work.
- The technical stack is open PostGIS, Valhalla, VROOM and Planetiler are open standards, widely proven in the industry. What we build is the operational layer on top, not the geospatial engine.
- What we commit to, we sign Scope, milestones, exit criteria and guarantees are put in writing before we start. If it has not been agreed, it is not part of the project.
In the European Union, in an isolated environment, with no third parties involved.
The platform is hosted on OVHcloud, in data centres located in the European Union. Routing, optimisation and the base map run inside the installation itself, so your staff's positions are not sent to any third party's map API. Each organisation operates in an isolated environment.
The details are in security and data governance.
What happens to your data if Maptainer disappears. In writing.
It is the question almost no supplier answers on its website. We answer it in the contract.
- Your data is yours and leaves whenever you want Full export (assets, work orders, incidents and photographs, with geometries in GeoJSON) is included in every plan, comes out in open formats and does not depend on asking us for it.
- Six months' notice and 90 days to leave If the service is ever discontinued, you will know six months in advance and everything will keep working in the meantime.
Every commitment, one by one, under reversibility.
